Grade 2 students finished the unit on 'Chinese dishes' by having a discussion on table manners and learning how to hold chopsticks. They had a class game competing against other groups of students to see who could pick the most pieces of pasta as quickly as possible. It was great to see them trying their best even though it was difficult. I was very happy to see students teaching others how to use the chopsticks too.
Grade 2 students have started their speaking presentation in class. They showed everyone the posters they had created about Chinese Dishes and talked about how they felt about the food by using the three expressions; 'delicious', 'not delicious' and 'I don't know' in Mandarin Chinese. Some students have even put in extra effort by showing their facial expressions which made everyone laugh!

Preps have been introduced to the story of The Giant Turnip. They learnt to say the name of the characters in Mandarin Chinese and have started to recreate the story by making a mini-book to share.
Due to the change of time-table last week, 4G had Language and they had a chance to play Jianzi (shuttlecock) and Chinese Jump Rope. They really enjoyed getting out and playing the traditional children's games with their friends.

Students have settled in the new term very well. Preps have been learning to describe the colours of an object. They played the chanting game where one of the students pretended to be a little bee, flying around and finding an object in the classroom with the colour being described. Everyone wanted to be that special little bee! Below are the lyrics of the song in case they would like to practise at home.
Grade 1 & 2 students learnt about how the Mid-Autumn Festival was celebrated last week. They had fun making these beautiful lanterns and used them to decorate their classrooms.
