Preps were introduced to the three Chinese symbols 红, 黄, 白 (red, yellow and white). They played the Planting Tulip game where they took turns to read the symbols on the dice and planted the tulips with the right colours.

Grade 2 students learnt to describe the colours of the animals in the story 'Big Bear, Big Bear, What do you see?' They had fun playing a board game where they had to read the colour words written in Pinyin.
Grade one students learnt to count animals and sing the 'Ten Little Dinosaurs' song. They were very proud of themselves when they made number dice all by themselves. Though, it was a bit challenging at first, they had fun playing a bingo game after that with their dice.
Grade 1 students have finished learning the words and sentences in the story 'Panda, Panda, What do you love to eat?' They also practised describing what they loved to eat in Mandarin Chinese. Students have put a lot of effort into making individual mini books to share with other classmates.

The students have been introduced to counting in Mandarin Chinese. They practised reading Chinese numbers on dice while playing a number game with a partner.
Welcome back to Term 3. It is now time for the Preps and Grades 1 & 2s to have their Language lessons this term and next term.
Prep students were very excited about having their first Language lesson this week. They learnt about where China and Australia are on the world map. They also practised saying their names in the sentence 'Wǒ jiào .......'(My name is .....). Grade one and two students practised counting to 20 this week. They were very enthusiastic about taking part in the number reading game as shown in the photos below. The Grade 5 & 6 students have been learning about words and sentences on the topic of 'Food & Drink'. They practised saying the sentences such as 'I like to eat dumplings' and 'I like to drink hot chocolate' in Mandarin Chinese. Students enjoyed playing language games where they got to practise the language and have fun at the same time. |
