Today the students used black acrylic to paint a human silhouette on top of their PVA collaged newspaper backgrounds from last Art session. Today the students have drawn a crown on the head of their person, and also painted the edges of their collage with white paint.

The students have each chosen a plastic toy, then traced around the shadows cast by the sun on their paper. When we returned to the classroom, textas were used to explore line, pattern and colour.
The students have been reintroduced to ceramics. They are making fried eggs, which will be fired, and painted with Viponds paints to replicate famous artworks. Today the students have used Viponds paints to add colour to their eggs. The students used posca and permanent markers to add embellishments to their eggs, thus completing them. Well done Grade 5!
Following on from out Home Learning, the students have had a refresher as to the work of Andy Warhol and his soup can screen prints. They have used a limited colour palette to create their own version of his work.
The students have discussed Valentines Day and the importance of telling people that they are loved. Students have drawn hearts, then collaged them with coloured paper pieces.
The students have studied the animal paintings of Laurel Burch. They have learnt how to draw cats and dogs, based on her paintings. A4 sheets of cartridge paper have been covered with watercolour flowers, ready to collage next session. Today the students have drawn a Laurel Burch inspired animal on the back of their painting from last week, cut it out and collaged their animal onto cover paper. Black crayons and greyleads have been used to add details.
The students have ripped up pieces of newspaper and are attaching these with PVA glue to 300gsm cartridge paper. These will be used over the next couple of weeks for a special painting.
The students have been studying the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama and her pumpkin themed paintings. Crayons and watercolour paints have been used to create two paintings which will be collaged next Art session. Today the students drew large pumpkins on the back of their crayon / ink wash paintings from last Art session. They cut out their pumpkin and then used supertac to collage it onto their plain watercolour painted sheet.
