The students have flattened a piece of clay, then pressed the sole of their shoe into the soft clay, to create texture. Next they chose from a variety of shapes to press into their clay, thus cutting it out. A hole was punched through the clay to enable the piece to be turned into jewellery, once fired and decorated.
The students have studied the animal paintings of Laurel Burch. They have learnt how to draw cats and dogs, based on her paintings. A4 sheets of cartridge paper have been covered with watercolour flowers, ready to collage next session. Today the students have drawn a Laurel Burch inspired animal on the back of their painting from last week, cut it out and collaged their animal onto cover paper. Black crayons and greyleads have been used to add details.
