The students were shown how to use white crayons to draw a picture on their page, the crayon acting as ‘invisible ink’. The picture was revealed when coloured watercolour paper was washed over the top of the crayon drawing!

We have discussed texture and the Preppies have taken a sheet of paper and rubbed over the top of an area of texture, with a durablock. They have chosen a couple of leaves each, then upon their return to the Art room, they have used greyleads to complete observational drawings of the leaves, on top of their textural rubbings.
The students have ‘taken a line for a walk’ across their page. Next they have used watercolour paints in different colours to paint section of their work. Final embellishments have been added by colouring shapes with pure colour or dots.
The students have been introduced to watercolour paint kits which we use frequently in the Art room. This is due to the fact that they are easy to use, have very vibrant colours and dry quickly. The Preps were given free choice of their subject matter for these pieces.
The students have discussed Valentines Day and the importance of telling people that they are loved. Students have drawn hearts, then collaged them with coloured paper pieces.
