The students have started weaving on a loom, whether this be a cardboard or cover paper one. Wool or strips of paper have been used.

The students have drawn two different backgrounds on photocopy paper with textas. One depicted patterns, the other illustrated some sort of environment. Students then used their iPads to take photographs of a small plastic creature, the paper bent as a background. At times, the students assisted each other by holding paper, and sharing knowledge on how to edit the photos by cropping them. The students then chose their most interesting photo for assessment.
The students have been introduced to’ blind contour drawings’, in which they look directly into a mirror, whilst they are drawing with texta. They are not permitted to look at their paper, or take the texta off their page as they draw. This crates a lovely, loose drawing style, and allows the students to have some fun. After the blind drawing has been completed, the students can use texta or coloured pencils to add pattern and colour to their drawings.
The students went outside on a guided adventure walk, collecting items to use in their printmaking next session. Next the students looked at the beautiful bird photography of Leila Jeffreys and completed some preliminary sketches that will be used next session. Today the students have drawn one of their birds onto cartridge paper and used the objects collected last session to dip into acrylic paint. They have stamped the natural objects onto their bird picture, creating texture. The students have used watercolour paint kits to add colour to their magnificent birds.
The students have been studying the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama and her pumpkin themed paintings. Crayons and watercolour paints have been used to create two paintings which will be collaged next Art session. Today the students drew large pumpkins on the back of their crayon / ink wash paintings from last Art session. They cut out their pumpkin and then used supertac to collage it onto their plain watercolour painted sheet.
