The students have drawn two different backgrounds on photocopy paper with textas. One depicted patterns, the other illustrated some sort of environment. Students then used their iPads to take photographs of a small plastic creature, the paper bent as a background. At times, the students assisted each other by holding paper, and sharing knowledge on how to edit the photos by cropping them. The students then chose their most interesting photo for assessment.

The students have discussed patterns and how they repeat themselves. We have explored these by drawing some patterns with textas.
The students have torn pieces of paper into strips, then created a star shaped background which will be used for next session. Today the students experimented with oil pastels. They have drawn the face of an animal over the top of their background from last week.
The students have been introduced to’ blind contour drawings’, in which they look directly into a mirror, whilst they are drawing with texta. They are not permitted to look at their paper, or take the texta off their page as they draw. This crates a lovely, loose drawing style, and allows the students to have some fun. After the blind drawing has been completed, the students can use texta or coloured pencils to add pattern and colour to their drawings.
We have discussed texture and the Preppies have taken a sheet of paper and rubbed over the top of an area of texture, with a durablock. They have chosen a couple of leaves each, then upon their return to the Art room, they have used greyleads to complete observational drawings of the leaves, on top of their textural rubbings.
The students have worked with partners, and have traced around the outline of their body with greyleads. Extra details have been added, in preparation for painting next week. Today the students used blue and white acrylic paint to mix and add colour to the school uniform components of their portraits. We also had time to mix skin colours, appropriate to individual needs. We discussed variations in skin colouring, and how we are all different!
The students have used fine liners and black textas to create these optical art style drawings. They will be added to next session with chalk and oil pastels. Today the students used dry pastels and oil pastels to add colour to the centre of their geode. They also added a mixture of glitter and PVA to make their geode look even better!
The students have finally started painting their legacy project, based on soup can screen prints by Andy Warhol. Today the students added another coat to their legacy projects.
