Last night I participated in an awesome PD session with Zart Art. Part of this session was drawing with my non-dominant hand. I thought we could give this a go with Grade 2. The students used thick black markers to draw straight onto cartridge paper, using their ‘wrong hand’, whilst carefully observing the natural objects before them on the tables. The drawings were fantastic and the students were very pleased with the results! Primecolour drawing pencils were used to add fantasy colours to sections of their drawings.
The students went outside on a guided adventure walk, collecting items to use in their printmaking next session. Next the students looked at the beautiful bird photography of Leila Jeffreys and completed some preliminary sketches that will be used next session. Today the students have drawn one of their birds onto cartridge paper and used the objects collected last session to dip into acrylic paint. They have stamped the natural objects onto their bird picture, creating texture. The students have used watercolour paint kits to add colour to their magnificent birds.
The students have used white crayon to randomly apply lines to their page. They have added colour with watercolour paints, then scraped glitter paint across their pages with cardboard pieces.
