The students explored paintings by American artist Alma Thomas, and created their own based on what they had observed in her work.

Once the students had painted their bisque fired ceramic sea creatures with acrylic paint, they used the remaining paint to depict underwater or sea themed paintings.
The students were shown how to use white crayons to draw a picture on their page, the crayon acting as ‘invisible ink’. The picture was revealed when coloured watercolour paper was washed over the top of the crayon drawing!
The students have started a weaving unit. Some have trialled weaving with paper, others have tried weaving on small cardboard looms. A great effort everyone in grade 3! Once completed, the weaving were cut from the looms and knotted.
The students have been studying the Street Art of Invader. They have been inspired by his / her pixelated images which have been installed all over the world. The Tempy Park students have created their very own creatures…watch this space…
The students were given mask templates to create their own superhero mask. We discussed characteristics of the cool masks, and the student referred to this discussion when creating their own mask. Once completed, the students drew a picture of themselves wearing the mask!
Today the students covered a sheet of paper thickly with oil pastels. Next they placed a similar size sheet of photocopy paper over the coloured oil pastel sheet and drew a picture with pencil. This resulted in rainbow colours transferred onto the back of their cover sheet.
The students have started weaving on a loom, whether this be a cardboard or cover paper one. Wool or strips of paper have been used.
The students have cut out the shapes of ‘snow people’, and collaged them onto black cover paper. They have cut scarves out of scrap coloured paper and added these and facial features to their collages. Greyleds have been used as needed. White acrylic paint has been stamped over the top to depict snow.
