The students have examined photographs depicting silhouettes. They have used watercolour paints this session to create their own, in preparation for adding a cityscape from black paper next week. Today the students created a city from black cover paper and glued this over the top of their collages from last week. Grade 4 students used supertac as the adhesive.

The students were given the chance to explore acrylic paint, mix whatever colours they liked and to generally explore the medium.
The students have looked at the work of Picasso and have collaged pieces of corrugated card together with supertac. The following week the students used acrylic paints to add colour to their faces, isolating particular areas. Today the students used posca markers to add fine details to their Picasso collages. They have added pieces of foam, cover paper, miniature pom-poms over the top also to create interest.
Firstly the students and I brainstormed different types of lines (wavy, curled, straight) on the whiteboard. Next they completed a guided drawing and then used strips of paper and glue sticks to create shapes and ‘feet’ for the shapes. The ‘feet’ enabled the shapes to stand up from the drawn on sheet of paper.
The students have used pop sticks to apply pure primary coloured acrylic paint onto their page. Next they have used cardboard pieces to scrape the paint across the paper, thus creating secondary colours. Lastly the students have been tested on their knowledge of primary / secondary and tertiary colour mixing.
The students have studied the structure of our eyes. They have used a limited colour palette to create their own eye collage.
The students have studied the heart artworks by Jim Dine. They have created their own, which will shortly be placed on display as a collaborative piece.
The students in these two grades completed continuous line drawings and arranged them on their page, after they had cut out the faces. They attached these to a piece of black cartridge paper with supertac.
The students have studied artworks by Yayoi Kusama and looked at different shapes pumpkins. They have practised drawing a couple, then enlarged their favourite onto A3 cartridge paper. Next they have focussed on a particular section and added texta details to it.
The students have drawn a picture with pencil, then traced over the top of this with texta. Next they added tissue paper and squirted water from a spray bottle over the top. This creates a reaction and we will see what they look like next week.
